“Scientia potentia est, sed parva; quia scientia egregia rara est, nec proinde apparens nisi paucissimis, et in paucis rebus. Scientiae enim ea natura est, ut esse intelligi non possit, nisi ab illis qui sunt scientia praediti.”
Narrative:
So by definition all knowledge will increase your strength. So strength in this case could also be interpreted to be of benefit to the general populous, a benefit to the common good or the individual. But that knowledge could also mean that if held close to the bosom can be used as a form of control over the masses, to control and subjugate and bend to your will. It has been said that ignorance is no defense, but not spreading the knowledge obtained, or determining that only a certain portion of that knowledge is suitable for the common man, or even more insidiously that knowledge is interrupted by a closed group of people for the general benefit of all can only lead to the power of knowledge in a macabre, almost Machiavellian situation been wielded as a sword. How many times through history has the phrase “Don’t worry you wouldn’t understand, that is why we need to control the source”. So knowledge is power, and when controlled in this manner also a tool of slavery!
